How can I take my cross-stitch with me on trips?

Vacations are coming ans it is now time to pack a travel bag of your stitching supplies, ready to go whenever you get a chance to get away. If you have your stitching ready at all times, you can grab it on the way out the door. It’s great to pass the time at the doctor’s or dentist’s office. We know they’re never on time and you won’t have to read that magazine from two years ago. Just think of all the wasted stitching time if you don’t have that little bag ready. There are the dance lessons, baseball and soccer practices, sitting with a sick relative or jury duty.

Very small projects can be slipped in a small plastic bag. If you are using aida cloth, you may not need a hoop or stretcher bars. Do the “Danish Method” and roll your piece in your hand in a scroll fashion. Once you get used to this, you will love it. Make yourself a chatelaine to hang around your neck. It can be as simple as a piece of ribbon with your scissors tied on an end and a few extra needles on the other. Remember the key is to keep it small enough to fit in your pocket or your purse. I’ve been known to miss a few airplane flights over the years, and it can be a long time until the next flight… Having something to keep you busy can sure calm the nerves!
